Doom from a Different Dimension…

Last time we had Dino Doom and in this post I am going to talk about Doom from a Different Dimension!

As you may know if you’ve read some of my previous articles, I like to buy Structure Decks and enhance them or build decks around certain cards found in them. One of the first Structure Decks I grabbed were two copies of the Dark Emperer Structure Deck. The two Caius the Shadow Monarchs from that particular deck went right into my very first Yu Gi Oh (power) deck about which I talked in my first deck article here. After some closer inspection I found some great cards in the Dark Emperor Structure Deck that interacted or had synergies with removing Monsters and other cards from play – banishing them – or sending them to some place seemingly called the “Different Dimension” in the games’ terminology/lore. So while already having a decent card pool for such a deck, I set out to create the best possible Different Dimension deck I could with my terribly limited knowledge of all the existing cards. The following is one of my earliest Yu Gi Oh decks and I might have missed some great cards or must-haves so please share your knowledge with me if you think anything vital would be missing. So here’s the decklist of what I came up with:

Andi’s Different Dimension Deck (On a budget):

Monsters…22

3 x Bazoo the Soul-Eater

3 x Card Trooper

3 x Jain, Lightsworn Paladin

3 x Banisher of the Light

2 x Gren Maju Da Eiza

2 x Golden Homunculus

1 x Cyber Dragon

1 x Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter

1 x Helios – The Primordial Sun

1 x D. D. Warrior Lady

1 x Breaker, the Magical Warrior

1 x Mask of Darkness

Spells…11

2 x D. D. R. – Different Dimension Reincarnation

1 x Pot of Greed

1 x Graceful Charity

1 x Card Destruction

1 x Change of Heart

1 x Dimensional Fissure

1 x Different Dimension Capsule

1 x Dark Hole

1 x Lightning Vortex

1 x Nobleman of Crossout

Traps…7

3 x Return from the Different Dimension

2 x Macro Cosmos

2 x Bottomless Trap Hole

This particular build is rather aggressive and has some nice synergies going on. You got some great beatsticks in the form of Bazoo, Jain and Card Trooper. All three require no Tribute and have exceptionally high attack power for that. Card Trooper can become a 1900 ATK Monster by sending up to 3 cards from the top of your deck to your Graveyard (plus it replaces itself by drawing you a card when destroyed – pretty neat!), Jain has 2100 ATK when attacking whilst sending the top 2 cards from your deck to your Graveyard during each of your Standby Phases. These two provide excellent “food” for massive attacks with Bazoo the Soul-Eater, which can become a 2500 ATK beast by conveniently banishing up to 3 Monsters from your Graveyard, an ability which goes along very well with the rest of the deck!

There are plenty of cards in the deck besides Bazoo that let you banish cards like Banisher of the Light, who doubles as a fairly good defensive Monster early on with 2000 DEF, Macro Cosmos and Dimensional Fissure. But what is all the card banishing good for after all? Well the deck includes three different Monsters which can grow bigger and bigger the more cards / Monsters are banished. The most powerful of them surely is Golden Homunculus, who can grow to gigantic proportions the more cards your remove from play, having a base ATK of 1500 and getting an extra 300 ATK and DEF for every of your banished cards. So if Bazoo had “full breakfast” just once, banishing 3 of your Monsters, Homunculus will already come into play as a 2400 ATK Monster. Gren Maju Da Eiza works in a similar way, but he has 400 ATK times the number of ALL banished cards, yours and your opponent’s, making him potentially a huge Monster for no Tribute. Speaking of Tributes, it is recommended not to Tribute Summon the aforementioned Golden Homunculus. You’d better get him banished or into your Graveyard and have him eaten by Bazoo only to reanimate him with D. D. R. – Different Dimension Reincarnation, of which I included 2 copies. Helios – The Primordial Sun is rather weak compared to Homunculus and Gran Maja Da Eiza but I decided to run one copy as it can be Special Summoned through Macro Cosmos…

The deck includes some other ways to banish Monsters such as Bottomless Trap Hole and the obligatory D. D. Warrior Lady and Nobleman of Crossout. Dark Hole and Lightning Vortex also efficiently bansih all (opponent) Monsters in conjunction with Dimensional Fissure or Macro Cosmos. At this point I would like to mention that this particular deck fares pretty well in my own little “meta” if I might call it that, as many of the decks we play involve reanimation from the Graveyard as more or less a key component of their strategies. The Different Dimension Deck simply shuts down reanimation, which can be very frustrating for an opponent running reanimation in their decks.

Before I close this article, I just have to mention THE killer card in the deck: Return from the Different Dimension:

At a later stage in the game this card is pure overkill. Especially when you managed to clear the playing field of opponent Monsters with Dark Hole or Lighting Vortex (I should really include Torrential Tribute as well I guess πŸ˜› ). The payment of half of your Life Points is negligable as, if you do it the right way, your opponent won’t ever have a chance to strike back once this Trap gets activated. The best thing is to Special Summon your Homunculi (yes that actually is the plural of Homunculus πŸ˜‰ ) and Gren Maju Da Eizas to swing in for lethal battle damage. Just watch out for those Mirror Forces… πŸ˜‰

Well that is my take on a Different Dimension Deck. As I mentioned before, I might be missing out on some must-have cards I am simply not aware of so please, as always, feel free to suggest cards and post some comments with your feedback and constructive criticism! That would be much appreciated!

Game on!

Yours,

Andi

  1. DD.. My only deck in real life. =D Kills a lot of decks which rely on graveyard retrieval.
Some suggestions for cards again. As this is a DD deck, most combos rely either macro cosmos/dimension fissure/ banisher of radiance / light on the field

    Soul absorbtion
Every time any card is removed from play, gain 500 life. your stuff would gain you life if they are removed from game.. Might not seem like much first. but just read on. Not many people would bother to waste a mystical space typhoon on this card.. almost anyone would use their MST on your macro cosmos/dimension fissure cos those affect their deck more than yours.

    DD Asaillant
-good for scaring away people. Put face up and your opponent would be scared to attack. If your enemy has a huge power monster, put it face down so if your enemy destroys it he is removed from the game too or just suicide him. You gain 1000 life if you have soul absorbtion on the field

    DD scout plane
-with macro cosmos on the field this guy just keeps coming back over and over, effect activates if removed from play by any means.

    DD surviver
-similar to scout plane, but it has 1800 atk and his effect triggers if it is face up on the field.

Caius the shadow monarch or any other tribute monsters
With scout plane and survivor, you have lots of stuff to tribute so I put 3 of them in my deck. I put the 1-2 of the frost and wind monarch in too.. Tribute a scout plane + remove an enemies card for 1000 free LP if you have soul absorbtion

Gold sarcaphogus -replace your dd capsule with this
-search a card from your deck and remove it from game.. add that card to your hand 2 turns later, as usual, gain life if you have soul absorbtion

    Necroface
    1200 atk /1800 def
if this card is removed from play, remove the top 5 cards of both decks from play. when summoned, return all cards removed from play to your deck and gain 100 for each one.

Here is the combo for this guy.. with soul absorbtion + macro cosmos /dimension fissure on the field, use gold sarc to and choose necroface.. 10 cards removed from game = you gain 5000 life. if you removed any scout planes, they come back end of your turn. Else, 2 turns later, summon necroface and shuffle everything back.. he will be a 2200 atker. if opponent kills kim again and gets him removed from game, BAM! another 5000 life for you. the best part is this.. if you put 2 in your deck and the first one removes the second one, another 5 cards are milled.. thats 10k hp if soul absorbtion is on the field. If he happens to be in your graveyard, you can trigger his effect with Bazoo too.

Would also suggest a torrential tribute too.. since you have cards you dont mind destroying. think of it this way.. you have scout or survivor on the field. your enemy summons a powerful guy. destroy all mosters with torrential. Your guys come back end of the turn, and you get a direct attack next round

PS- you should put in another dimension fissure. just in case. why i say that is because if your opponent plays a jinzo or royal decree, your macro cosmos will not take effect.

    • Thank you once again for your many suggestions Wayne. As always – much appreciated. However, I think we are running quite a different approach with our DD decks here. Yours is probably the stronger one, as you got more experience in deckbuilding etc than I have, but that doesn’t really matter. You know I actually considered a DD deck running some of the cards you suggested like Scout Plane, Survivor and Caius, but that would be a totally different deck. My take on a DD deck focuses on Bazoo / Homunculus beatdown pretty much and it is good fun to play and strong against many of my other decks as many of them do some “graveyard” tricks. So what I was thinking while ago was to do build another DD deck on the cheap which would actually be more similar to your approach. And I think I will do just that, because I don’t want to drop most of the cards from my current DD deck just to imitate yours. Will come up with a second DD deck including Survivor, Scout Plane and Caius. When you read this you will probably already find an article with a decklist about it on here! πŸ™‚
